ProTec Dive Center Team

Playa del Carmen

Our ProTec team in Playa del Carmen consists of three full time Cave Instructors Nando, Patrick and Matt. One additional full time staff member Rosalba to keep our dive center & training facility running smoothly with daily operation with Anabel filling in when Rosalba needs to go on erands. Kelvin is mostly teaching technical diving courses.

ProTec Tulum

Our ProTec team in Tulum consists of three full time Cave Instructors Kim, Patrick and Matt. Two additional full time staff member Rosso and Anabel to keep our dive center & training facility running smoothly with daily operation. Kelvin and Alvaro are Intro to Cave Instructors with Alvaro mainly guiding cavern and cave divers.

ProTec Cozumel

Our ProTec team in Cozumel consists of Dario Hernandez our Captain and boat owner of the Eusmilia dive boat and three part time dive guides and Instructors Nando, Patrick and Matt from Playa del Carmen. One additional full time staff member in Playa Rosalba to keep our destination running smoothly with daily operation. Alvaro and Tristan helping out guiding our groups on the Island.

Staff

Our entire staff are full time employees dedicated to the service of our customers, and we schedule our staff according to our customers needs. We are not a sales agent for divers needs, we are a complete in house service provider. Our part time employees are guides and Instructors who live and dive in the area and their field of expertiese for years to ensure quality service and customer satisfaction.

Rosalba Garcia

Rosalba

Rosalba Garcia is a face that most people who have come into our store knows well. She has been with us since the day we opened in the year of 2000 and is still taking care of us all.

You will find her in the retail area, doing the paperwork, making orders, and making all the daily motions of the store work smoothly.

Anabel Davidson

Anabel Davidson

Anabel is from the Philippines and married to Kelvin for many years. They have been managing a dive shop in Truck Lagoon and have relocated to Tulum, Mexico where they help out and work at our ProTec Tulum facility.

Jose

Jose

Jose is from Villahermosa and has been working in the Riviera Maya for many years. Jose is helping out with the filling of our many tanks in our fill station.

Rosalino Rivera Hernandez

Rosalino Rivera Hernandez

Rosalino Rivera Hernandez a.k.a. Rosso is a born Mexican originally from Tabasco living in Tulum since 2001. Rosso is running ht eday to day operation of ProTec Tulum. Rosso is a trained Intro to cave diver and would like to get into cave exploration. Rosso speaks English besides his native Spanish.

Alvaro Roldan Montes

Alvaro Roldan Montes

Alvaro was born in Madrid, lived and studied there until he started travelling around Europe. After some years living close to the mountains he moved to Canary Islands where he realized that his passion where water activities.

Alvaro started scuba diving a few years after been practicing free diving where he found the interest for the world below the surface. In 2008 he became a PADI instructor and started travelling around Central America, Mexico and the Caribbean Sea, that was when he discovered the Mexican under water cave world. In 2011 he finally move to the Riviera Maya, to work in the new ProTec Tulum Advanced Training Facility.

His passion for the technical diving is growing as his passion for the proper procedures for safe diving. Alvaro is currently training to be a Cave and Trimix Instructor. In the afternoons you can find Alvaro in the ProTec Tulum dive shop helping out customers and taking care of the rental and retail dive gear.

Alvaro speaks fluent Spanish and English.

Kelvin Davidson

Kelvin Davidson

Kelvin, born in New Zealand, has been diving professionally since 2004, and teaching Technical Diving since 2005. Working in the Philippines from 2005 with his original mentors at Tech Asia, he began his "apprenticeship" as a Technical/Trimix Instructor, and spent his day's scootering the deep reefs and walls of Puerta Galera, and the Verde Island Passage. It was also at this time he became fascinated by wreck diving in Subic Bay, Coron Bay and the Soutgh China Sea.

From 2008, Kelvin (along with wife Anabel), managed a dive operation in Truk Lagoon, and spent 3 years teaching Technical, Trimix, and Wreck programs in the world's biggest and best wreck diving playground.

Kelvins first cave dives were in New Zealand, but it was the formal cave training in Mexico that really turned him onto underground diving leading to the decision at the end of 2010 to pack up, and head to the Yucatan Peninsula for further adventures.

Fernando del Valle Prieto

Nando

Fernando del Valle Prieto was born in Mexico City, live and studied there untill he decide to take some time off and learn to scuba dive. He decided to travel to Playa del Carmen to learn. This was his first touch to the world of diving, and he decided then to make diving his career and focus of his life. For the last 10 Nando has worked in Southern Mexico teaching and guiding divers in Playa del Carmen, Akumal and Cozumel. Five years ago he decided to take up cave diving, he was trained by Scott who past his passion for the caves to Nando.

Ever since he has spend his time working towards his future goal of being a Technical Cave Instructor. Nando speaks fluently English and Spanish and can do some needed explanations in Italian. When not out diving you will find him in the store helping out customers with their needs and taking care of the rental and retail gear for everyone.

Kim Davidsson

Kim Davidsson

Kim Davidsson is 32 years old and originally from Helsingborg, Sweden where he also learned how to dive in 1998, first ever salary from a summer job was spent on an Open water course. He lives in Tulum with his wife and two small children. Kim started to work and help out at the local dive shop and on trips arranged to Norway, being underwater was an instant passion and the dream of working with diving full time was born.

Kim came to Tulum, Mexico 2002 in pursuit of cave training and a good vacation. His passion for cave diving lead him to the realization that he would like to teach the art of safe cave diving.

Kim has been fortunate to explore some of the amazing caves and systems in Mexico and this is his true passion. Connecting the dots and to see how a cave grows is the ultimate kick and Kim is often struck by “cave fever”.

Patrick Widmann

Patrick

Patrick Widmann is originally from Austria, where he also discovered early his passion for diving. About 7 years ago he moved to Egypt to turn it into his full time occupation. For the next years he was working for big companies teaching all levels of recreational diving including Instructor courses. In his spare time he started with deep mixed gas diving along the deep walls and canyons of the Red Sea as well as exploring its many wrecks. In 2005 he came the first time to Mexico and got immediately hooked on Cave diving and finally moved here in 2007.

Some of the favorite locations that he currently guides and teaches include: The Caves of the Riviera Maya, the Deep Caves of Yucatan, the deep wall in front of Playa del Carmen and the C-52 Wreck outside of Puerto Morelos.

Courses can be taught in English, German and French. He is very active in the support of community diving projects and regularly can be found mixing gases for these projects and other much larger exploration initiatives.

Andreas W. Matthes

Matt

Andreas W. Matthes or known to most people as Matt is the founding member and owner of the ProTec Dive Center & Advanced Training Facility. Along with daily operations of the facility he is our training director and special projects director. Originally from Germany; he has lived, worked and dove throughout Germany, Thailand, Philippines, Malaysia, Honduras, Egypt, Northern and Southern United States, Soloman Islands, Eastern Caribbean, Belize, Pacific and Eastern Mexico.

Matt has been training divers since 1993 and has certified hundreds of divers to various levels of training. Some of the favorite locations that Matt currently guides and teaches include the deep walls off Cozumel, the caves and caverns of the Riviera Maya, the Deep Caves of Yucatan, the deep walls of the Honduran Bay Islands and wrecks and deep walls along the Mexican Pacific coast.

Courses can be taught in German, English, and Spanish. His community puts him in the front line of regional developments and is a regular contributor to global cave diving discussions. An APSA Guide Instructor and Guide.
